The sweet bramble is a shrub that can reach 1.5 m in height, with hairy, thornless stems. Its branches arch towards the ground, giving it a mound-like appearance.
The leaves are simple, deciduous, and large, with five lobes reminiscent of a maple leaf. Green in summer, the leaves turn yellow in autumn.
The flowers are pink, ranging from light to dark, and measure 3 to 5 cm in diameter.
Its fruits are small drupes resembling flattened raspberries.
This shrub is edible; it can be eaten raw or cooked into jelly. A dye can also be extracted from it. It was once widely used for its medicinal properties; this shrub has astringent and diuretic properties that can treat, among other things, kidney problems, toothaches, and certain gum issues.
