A lover of this flower since childhood, Catherine holds the rose in a special place. For her, the rose symbolizes femininity, gentleness, romance, and strength, thanks to its well-developed thorns. She even makes a habit of leaving her mark in a certain way: out of love for this flower, she has made it a point to plant rose bushes at her homes since she was a young girl. This love of roses even accompanied Catherine and her partner, Nicolas, to one of their first encounters. Indeed, during a walk in the Lower St. Lawrence region, hundreds of wild rose bushes were growing. One can only imagine that the fragrance, the delicacy, and the radiant beauty of the rose enchant the place and inspire beautiful love stories…

CULTIVATING OUR ROSE BUSHES

In St-Sévère, we are in zone 3, which is suitable for these types of hardy roses. When planting, we use a natural fertilizer to help them establish. At Passion Lavande, we have rich, clay soil, which is perfectly suited to these roses.

Did you know that roses are more susceptible to insects and diseases than lavender? So, we check their health during the daily harvest. Indeed, some small caterpillars can attack the rose foliage. We treat them by removing the caterpillars by hand and spraying with a safe, organic insecticide that is harmless to us and the environment. Japanese beetles are also pests. However, we haven't seen any on our roses yet.
